I'm having trouble with skype. When I plug my headphones in, I can get all my souds through them. But then, if I make a skype call, the call comes through the headphones, but not everything else. Jaws, the sounds of my computer, those come through my computer speakers. I've made sure all the audio settings match up, but the problem won't go away. Any tips?
I've had this same problem. You may want to check out your sound card settings and change from the default settings to your headset. Just make sure you don't click on anything that says disable button. I learned that the hard way and I accidentally disabled my computer's speakers and I had to redownload the sound card driver.
Oh, I forgot to ask. Is it a USB headset, or is it a headset with two plugs, one for the headphone speakers and the other one for the mic. Because I've had issues with the two-plug one which I wasn't able to fix, but the USB headsets are great in my opinion. With those you shouldn't have to change anything. You should just plug it in, and it should start working.
Ah, yes, I remember that Runner.
You just needed sighted help to click that button, but without it you needed a second sound card, or like you learned, to reinstall the drivers.
I am thinking you uninstalled it, not disabled it.
Here is a reason you might be having this issue Cody.
If you are using Windows Vista through 8, you have a setting that lowers the volume of other sounds when you receive a call. This is desirable if you are listening to music, and receive a call, because Windows lowers the volume automatically for you.
To check, and change the setting.
1. In the search box type, change sound card settings, or audio settings. You can also get to it from the systems tray, arrow to speakers, click that one and arrow down to playback devices.
2. Control tab over to communications and set your desired setting, and tab to okay. Now you should be able to have all sounds even on a call.
3. These card settings should be accessible, and if this doesn’t work for you, you’ll need sighted help to see the settings that you can’t find. Many manufactures have others settings in cards we don’t see, but this should solve your issue. Let me know?
Thanks all. I fixed the problem. The advanced settings weren't quite matched up with the basic settings. A few checkboxes fixed it.
